石渠寶笈初編(御書房),下冊,頁1127&*故宮書畫錄(卷八),第四冊,頁80&*故宮書畫圖錄,第七冊,頁65-66&* 文徵明(西元一四七○至一五五九年),江蘇蘇州人。初名壁,以字行,更字徵仲,號衡山居士,為明代吳派畫家之首。五十四歲以歲貢至京,授翰林待詔,與修武宗實錄,後厭倦京師生活,返居故里,專意藝事。 此畫著意無多,蓋徵明為其友人如鶴先生所作圖也,雖酬應之作,惟筆墨仍頗精到。款中有小跋,如尺牘:「久別耿耿,前承雅意,未有以報,小詩拙畫,聊見鄙情。」此圖作於丙戍(一五二六),是年,文徵明五十七歲。 &* Wen Cheng-ming was a native of Soochow. Although his given name was Pi, he is best known by his style name Cheng-ming. His other style name was Cheng-chung and his sobriquet was Heng-shan chü-shih. Wen Cheng-ming is considered one of the most influential painters of the Wu school, which developed in Soochow duing the Ming dynasty. When he was fifty-four years old, he was sent to the capital to serve as a member of the Hanlin Academy. There he participated in the compilation of the Veritable Records of Wu-tsung. Later, he became bored with life in the capital and returned to his home where he devoted himself to artistic endeavors. Not much care was taken in the execution of this painting, which was painted as a gift for a friend. The brushwork, however, is very fine. The inscription contains a personal note which reads as follows: “In the past, you gave me a beautiful gift, and I still have not repaid you.
